Re: Eugene velodrome?

Yeah, from what I understand from all of this is that there was already
legislation in the state to build an indoor Velodrome in Southern
Oregon. I don't think this would have happened without someone in
Southern Oregon saying "hey, can we get a Velodrome?". Then the person
in Portland who was working on getting a new, indoor Velodrome found out
about this legislation and started working with the state legislature to
get funding for the Velodrome proposal here. So Eugene is not mentioned
in a site because no one in Eugene did something similar to get the
state legislature talking?

Perhaps because there's nobody in Eugene championing such a project?

After reading all these excited emails about building two new
velodromes in Portland and southern Oregon, I am curious as to why
Eugene is not one of the proposed sites. Eugene/Springfield is the
second largest city in the state, we have a large cycling community,
and we are centrally located geographically. I certainly think the
proposal to build more velodromes is fantastic, but I am just
wondering (with a bit of jealousy) why Portland and southern Oregon
were picked instead of my town. Has there ever been talk of building
one here?
