I sent a message to Chris but wanted to let other people out there know as well.
For more information on what Chris is looking for check out our website at www.lcmba.org. We are working with the city to expand the Ridgeline trail and re-open the existing trails to mtb use.
If you have any questions about future development, suggestions, or want to be involved in it, contact me or Dave Roth off list and we can talk more.

Subject: MTB riding in Eugene

10-12 years ago, I was introduced to an area for riding very close in
to Eugene that was on private property, but w/ a landowner that was
receptive to having MTB'ers riding around. I am not sure whether this
is still the case. I hadn't explored up there for quite some time and
decided to revisit it last night. The area I'm talking about is up
along the south hills ridgeline, just south of Blanton Ridge, framed
between Willamette St. to the east, and Lorane Highway to the west.
This tract of land follows the power lines with several maintained
gravel access roads. There are also several parallel trails winding
throughout what appeared to be two separate, quite large, parcels. I
believe this may be what is referred to as the Gillette property?
Years ago, there were old abandoned cars strewn about here and there,
and a few squatter types living simply. A lot of that had been
removed. I noticed several marked out and very well maintained, yet
lighly used trails that were flagged out w/ orange and blue ribbon.
Anyone know anything about this area? I couldn't help but think it
would be great to wander around w/ a Garmin GPS unit and map it out on
google earth.
