*THE VANPORT KERMESSE TENTATIVE INFORMATION
*
Now that the local cross season is finally over, the OBRA community can look
forward to the return of light, the demise of dark and the righteousness of
the road bike. Though this course contains no dirt, it will be messy and
bumpy and could be raced on either road (w/ 25+c tires) or cross bike (w/
big ring, no knobbies). The road surface is smooth to broken asphalt with
approximately 500 meters of gravel per lap (good kind). There will be no
follow vehicles and no pits, flat = done.

PLEASE NOTE
This race is being held based upon the assumption that the Oregon bicycle
racing community is completely nuts and will rise to any challenge, the
kookier the better. Cross is proof of that. This race is part of a larger
attempt at popularizing a new variety of bike racing - the Kermesse, part
circuit race, part festival. In this case, the festival doesn't exist (yet)
so the race must come first. We hope to grow the festival part after the
popularity of the race is tested and a permanent home on the calendar found.
If it's raining sideways, this race will still go, in fact, it will be
better - nasty Belgian style Kermesse.

The following is TENTATIVE AND PARTIAL. It is subject to change. All
information will be made final in the flyer to be distributed soon. If you
have any commnents or suggestions, please do not hesitate to reply to this
