Pros do get paid... in europe. Most sports seem to have multiple levels of participation.
Some get paid to do it, some get some sort of sponsorship to help with costs and may break even, and the majority pay to participate.
Being at the top of Obra does not mean you are fast enough to get paid, right?
I am not saying Evan, Eric, or any other top Obra riders are slow by any means, but they usually have a tough time against top riders in europe.
Then there is the whole popularity thing(that brings in the $), you cannot petition a society to have more appreciation for a sport.
We like football, baseball, basketball, etc. I hate saying that because I do not like those sports.
Maybe we should just appreciate that cycling is not as messed up by money here in the states as it is in europe.

How about a petition to actually get paid to be a "pro" cyclist? Supposedly there are hundreds of pro cyclists in the country--most of them spend more than they make just to make the races, most of the rest make less than poverty wage. A few are lucky enough to make a living only equal median income levels.
I have signed these petitions, but the real question should be when will these fine athletes (men and women) actually start getting compensated relative to their performance level and contribution to the industry and sport?
