Re: Tubeless options for CX

As of recent the Hutchinson brand tire with the stan's set-up is pretty much
compatible with all mid to high end wheels. Not sure that all have been road
tested but that's the theory. Before they were only compatible with a
shimano model rim but now they're compatible with most/all. As menitoned in
Patrick's earlier email with his road experience if you're looking to
convert standard road wheels to tubeless use the Hutchinson Kit; stans rim
tape, goop, and valve (cyclepath stocks them). I recently mounted them to a
set of Eastons. No problems except the initial inflation...you need a lot of
pressure to seal them up and a floor pump didn't cut it. Either an air
compressor or a simple CO2 will do the trick...as for ride quality my wife
road them and loved the smooth ride but was a bit sketch out on the narrow
profile and the transition between the dual compounds in the turns we're a
bit slick to her?? It could have been the pressure in them too as you really
have to curb your habit of inflating to the usual 100-120 range. the tubless
is for sure 80-90.

hope that helps

p.s. the application for putting them on was super simple!
