It was a custom rack built by Ahearne in town. You can tow a bike quite easily but it's not sturdy enough to have a rider on the bike you are towing. The rack is built to accomodate a grocery bag, 2 panniers and the tow hitch. It also has a bottle opener built into it, that's an Ahearne signature.
I believe it cost me $300 at the time. It's been worth every penny.
I'd also recommend checking with Ira Ryan.

Last summer while leaving PIR in the dark after the last short track race I glanced at someone heading south on Denver on his bike. He was pulling another bike attached by the fork to rig he was riding. The front wheel of bike being towed was attached behind him in some manner. Rider and both bikes appeared to be moving well together. It did not look like a struggle. I assume this was some sort of rack/fork hitch that he had a builder make or something being marketed by someone. I am very interested in this as I believe it would be a great way to get an extra bike to someplace (like a race) or someone (like spousal unit) without the use of a car. Does anyone have any information about this equipment? Depending on cost, I may be interested.
Thanks for any info... and you can reply directly or if others are interested... speak up so info. can go your way.
