Re: Is Gales Creek Trail Open?

I actually pushed through all the way up to Bell Camp Road. It was one of the dumbest/dangerous things I've ever done. But hey, there were three of us who at first thought it was sorta an adventure. Gales Creek Trail just doesn't exist anymore. There were massive landslides (300+ft) so the side of the mountain where the trail was is now gone! We hiked over trees, rocks, logs along the creek thinking that if we made it up a little bit higher then eventually our beloved trail would be fine. Nope. Everytime we would make it, there was another massive landslide, usually much worse than the last one we just made around which is hard to believe considering how bad they were. At one point I was holding on to a root on the side of a washout, handing bikes up to my buddy, who was dangling on a tree sticking out the side of the hill, handing it up to our other friend who was perched on the edge of the huge drop off. Like I said, we were retarded. It took 2.5-3hrs of mostly hiking to make it to Bell Camp Rd. Yes, the logging has messed up the trail, but honestly it was only the last 500m or less. So, you can ride Gales Creek trail from the parking lot, it's perfect, but when you come to the Storey Burn/ Gales Creek T' in the trail...GO LEFT! That would be Storey Burn and it's in great shape. So is the other side of the highway (Brown's Camp, etc.)
