Re: Mt Biking events

I'm baffled as well. I was there - the weather was terrific, the course
was challenging and the beer was the best you'll get at any MTB race.
Plus I scored a really cool soft shell jacket from Giant in the raffle
(easily worth 5 times my entry fee and maybe as much as 10 times).

Why anyone would prefer to suffer frostbite and to destroy their
equipment in the early season mud is beyond me.

I must hit that event next year.  I'm still baffled by
why the SkiBowl event didn't draw more folks.

Shameless
PLUG disclaimer and meant to be funny

How about a Mt Bike event with no timing where people from all over the
world just ride for fun...well you can do that already

www.mtbikeoregon.com

We just had our first MBO of 2008 and it was a great time

270 people from about 20 states (Maine and Florida the farthest away)
and four countries attended

Check it out if want some great single track riding

Thanks

The racers have spoken, the majority do not want to race in
nice weather they show up in droves to early season races to race in
the worst conditions but do not show for summer races, it's a simple
decision for Promoters, start the MTB season in January, shorten the
laps, add a time limit, allow bike swaps then change the name to
cyclocross since that's what people seem to actually want.

Perhaps in a few years we can start up a new sport,
maybe called "mountain biking" that takes place on epic trails in the
mountains, people will get all jazzed about it and want to race their
"mountain" bikes then we can start a race series that takes place in
the mountains in the nice weather that comes with an Oregon Summer.
