Re: Hagg Lake

i hate to say it but hagg lake can be pretty disgusting. i've been there at several different times of the year and never managed to finish the course. not because it was to difficult but just being done with all the hike-a-bike and ridiculous mud pits. the only thing worse would be dealing with the "lake people".there's probably a reason why the only cool events there are in the winter, the banana belt and the hagg lake ultra.

Yes, the story is still accurate, but don't hang up the bike yet. The plan is 40 years or so (and probably many $) away from its possible start. The water level is to be raised 20 or more feet. There are many big issues with this plan, such as rights of the property owners of the region and the insufficient height of the dam, in addition to the Banana Belt and its famed Muur van Hagg.

The Tualatin Valley Water District, Tualatin Valley Irrigation District, and CleanWater Services of Washington County would have further information on Hagg Lake.

What will happen to the BB race? Is the news story still accurate?

According to "Bicycling the Backroads of Northwest Oregon" it's 750 feet

cumulative gain for 1 loop (11.6 mi) around the lake.

Does anyone out there have the stat for cumulative elevation gain around

the Hagg Lake loop? Either direction is okay (-:

Thanks,
