Lance Armstrong's USPS Teammate to Participate in Nike Cycling Development Camp, February 15-17, 2002

(OBRA (www.obra.org <http://www.obra.org/>) - January 17, 2002) The Nike Cycling Development Camp is pleased to announce that Kenny Labbe will participate in the inaugural event at Nike World Headquarters during the weekend of February 15 - 17, 2002. Labbe is a teammate of Lance Armstrong and on the 2002 roster of the United States Postal Service Pro Cycling Team.

Labbe has been a pro since 1996. One of his credentials is unique among his teammates. Kenny is the only USPS rider who actually is a U.S. Postal Service letter carrier from Mt. Prospect, Illinois. Labbe's other impressive credentials include being a 12-time Illinois State Champion, and a former U.S. National Record holder in the 12-hour time trial (252 miles on the Kenosha, WI , velodrome).

Another frequently seen face amongst the USPS team is Chris Carmichael, Lance Armstrong's coach. Mr. Carmichael will be the keynote speaker at the Friday evening "Legends of Cycling" presentation on February 15 at the Tiger Woods Conference Center, located at Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon. A guest athlete reception will precede the presentation for an up-close and personal interaction with the athletes in attendance, and will include product raffles from Nike Cycling, Nike Eyewear, Trek, Carmichael Training Systems, PowerBar, and Speedplay Pedal Systems.

On Saturday afternoon, February 16, beginning at 1pm, the Legends of Cycling Benefit Ride will provide all cycling enthusiasts a chance to ride with these cycling luminaries. Open to all levels of cyclists, the ride will take place on the scenic, low-traffic road that loops around Hagg Lake in Forest Grove, Oregon. Riders will be divided into groups according to cycling experience and distance covered (routes of 11-66 miles), with on-road mechanical support from The Bike Gallery and bike demos from the Trek demo van.

Net proceeds from the weekend's events will benefit two nonprofit organizations closely connected with the cycling community - the Lance Armstrong Foundation (www.laf.org <http://www.laf.org/>) and Bicycles and Ideas for Kids Empowerment (www.kidsofbike.org).
