Well first we should calculate gear inches or gain. Gear inches are
calculated by tire size, gear gain is tire size and crank length as
variables. I would first figure your gear inches as tire size has an
effect I wouldn't run the same ratio on my 29' SS as my 26' SS or
Cyclocross bike for that matter. I suggest consulting the authority www.sheldonbrown.com
this may give you some clarity on gear ratios!
