Brian Engelen
Will,
At Mudslinger and Hornings I used a 36/21 on my 29" wheels. Both places
were a bit muddy and slow. If it was dry at Bear Springs I, personally,
would try using a 36/19.
I'm using a 36/26 on 29" wheels at Scappoose right now. Where as, last
Summer I was using a 36/18 on the same bike.
I tried a 36/16 on 29" wheels at the PIR short tack and it seemed OK for me.

Subject: Re: [OBRA Chat] Gearing for SS MTB racing
I run the same gear ration for short track that I run for cross. I have not
done a cross country race single speed. So I would also like to hear what
people run for something like Bear Springs.

So 2x1 ratio is fine for 'cross but what do those of you who race SS for MTB
season have set up? It's gotta be closer to a 1x1 ratio, yeah?
Let me know what size chain-ring & cog combo you're running. I'm pushing a
34x19 for Forest Park but that would be ridiculous for races with "real"
climbs.
Off list is perfect.
