Unfortunately, my experience has been that the local police (or any police
for that matter) will not do a dang thing .I have been hit by cars harassed
by cars assaulted by motorists.every time the local cop has said first."what
did you do wrong" and "well we have to see it happen to cite".not matter
that it was/is some idiot who used his vehicle to assault and attempt to
murder me.as long as it is against a cyclist.."no problem"!! Go away don't
bother us.and by the way get off the road!
This case with witnesses, should pursue with the local DA.the ONLY way we
will ever make a change is to make the police enforce the laws and punish
offenders.being polite just does not cut it..and on average 11 to 13
cyclists die each year in Oregon.and what is being done to stop it?? Nothing
to educate drivers and enforce traffic laws..nothing.

If this guy is not prosecuted, his behavior will not change and will
continue to be a danger for any cyclist he encounters. This type of
behavior takes place in urban as well as rural areas. I hope education is a
form of evolution of the human species.
