They did a piece in this on Cartalk. The boys said that warming up a car
more then 1 minute was a waste. And that 1 minute should be in areas of
severe cold. Not around here.

another moronic misconception people have about their cars. Cars warm up
best under a bit of load. Idling to warm a car is about the dumbest thing
you can do. Bad on the car, bad on the environment (catalytic converter
isn't hot), Bad noise, Bad on the wallet.

Just driving easy the first couple miles is much better idea. Now Yeah for
the like the first second, you don't want to max rev, but by like second
two, oil is pumping into the bearings.

The all mighty google produced this:

not sure what the law is in oregon but I think there is a fine....sounds
like a good research project that I don't have time to do. Good luck.

just go out and turn his car off and then misplace the keys. i am sure there
is a noise ordanance in place to guard against this. i would just call the
cops and tell them what is going on.

Totally off topic, but for the lawyers/ anyone who might know something in

regards to this subject.

Short story: neighbor's daughter's boyfriend has his subaru wrx turn on

every morning at 5:10am and he let's it idle for 20 minutes (he's not in

the car during this). He says this is to warm up his after market turbo
charger.

He also has an after market tail pipe on it as well.

He wakes up myself and 5 other households every day with this. He has been

asked to move his car somewhere else but has refused. He is not the
homeowner

nor does he appear to be a legal resident (unconfirmed).

My neighbors and I have written a letter to the homeowner but have not heard

back yet.

Please reply off list and thank you for the help.

Dave
