Because of all this ruckus, my new strategy for using my credit card online
is to use a service that Citibank offers that assigns a "dummy" or "virtual"
card number to a specific vendor. It will stay active for, at most, two
months and can only be used at that vendor. It'll automatically be declined
if someone attempts to use it elsewhere. I'm not sure what other banks/card
issuers offer this, but it's seems like a good idea if you can do it.
