I rode lower phils stuff yesterday, and it is not bad, the bike came out pretty clean.
On the higher stuff you will find hard snowpack.
I rode grey butte a couple of times and both times you would have wanted to skip the north side, which can be done by taking the dirt rd that parallels the trail. A lot of the trails on grey butte/smith rocks are great right now.
Cline buttes is excellent now as well.
