We in Portland instead of thinking about Cannondale sorry dealers, should feel blessed that amongst our many claims to fame have some of the best indi fab builders around. I would rather see more folks showing up on local customs than to let dollars escape the PDX zips. I am sure guys like Dave Levy (TYCYCLES great builder) would love a few more team orders in the fall to make it through the winter. My point there is a natural reaction to worry about the global over the local in these times and living here I find that a waste of energy.

Subject: [OBRA Chat] Cannondale to move all production overseas
Dorel is busy consolidating its bike biz into "centres of excellence" and will be moving 100 percent of Cannondale's manufacturing oversease to its Taichung, Taiwan facility.
I can't say that I'm really surprised. I was waiting for this bomb to drop ever since Dorel bought up Cannondale. (C'mon, Dorel?! Really? That was just too much.) To me, Cannondale's brand value just went into the toilet.
Now it's been completely flushed and is rapidly degrading in the septic tank.
I bought three Cannondale bike BECAUSE of how they were made and loved my bikes for that.
Dorel -- I don't care how much money they make every year -- has absolutely NO IDEA how to deal with brand equity. yeah, Cannondale really shot itself in the foot by making motorcycles under the Cannondale flag and paid dearly for that. I mean that was pretty much the beginning of the end for Cannondale, but it didn't change the way they made their bikes.
Goodbye Cannondale. It's been a fun ride.
