Keep in mind that things are cyclic. Countries, industries, whatever, they all go through a life cycle. There will always be "off-shoots" from a end-of-cycle organism ( local example: Tektronix. Count the number of companies that were formed from that "fallen tree.") Trace the technology Cannondale used and where the designers and builders came from and went. Frame builders today have an incredible wealth of technology and "builder's lore" (to coin a phrase). That includes both the "mega-manufacturers" and the "boutique builders."

All you can do is to vote with your pocketbook. If you don't like the new product, buy something else. It would be good to send the parent corporation a note explaining your choice. Maybe they'll listen. Maybe they won't.
