My Polar 720 had about 7250' (I say about as I know it was 7820' from my house and estimating the climbing to the start and a little back home) and felt it was pretty accurate. I have measured the accuracy (against topo maps) on several climbs in the mountains and found it to be 98% + accurate. Of course this is running, hiking or skiing, but I would imagine cycling provides the same accuracy level.
