A long time ago it was the norm to get a t-shirt with your entry at big races. i kind of miss that. i have taken all those old t-shirts and had them made into a quilt. it is really cool to look back and remember those races.

I would suggest that those who wish to commemorate their participation by buying a cotton tee shirt do so, but not force everyone to buy one.

Excellent idea! Would even suggest (slightly) raising the cost to enter and include a t-shirt for each entrant.
I enjoy a nice souvenir for my efforts (e.g. Cherry Pie Road Race, Mudslinger, Salem Fairview Circuit Race, etc) and certainly don't mind proudly displaying some of the generous sponsors on the back!
