Greetings!

Well, it's time to start thinking about ATB officials for the 2003 season.

Any OBRA members interested in working as officials at OBRA mountain bike

events, please contact me.

The course will be held in Corvallis on Saturday, Feb 8th, from 8am-5pm at

the Day Room at the Benton County Public Works building. The address is 360

SW Avery. I can send directions if you are interested in attending.

There is no cost to you. There will be some grub for breakfast and pizza

for lunch, so you won't have to go hunting around town for food. If you

need lodging information, I can forward that, too, or you can do a search

for places to stay in Corvallis. I can make some recommendations, there,

too.

The course will cover the following:

Race Rules and Enforcement

Roles of the Official

Timing and results

Racer Safety

etc.

The cost of having an official work an event may vary, but could be:

mileage @ $.35/mile

per diem $25 for food

lodging if overnight stay is required

$100/day

Promoters are discouraged from working their own events, and will be

assigned (by me) to work events based on what will provide the most fair and

unbiased coverage. Fees may be waived if desired in exchange for officials

sharing responsibilites across events. OBRA receives nothing from these

fees. They are merely to cover the expense incurred by the Official.

Officials will be expected to be available during the entire event. If

you're working an event and racing, make sure you have a backup during the

event. This all must be worked out with the promoter in advance.

There is much more to cover, so contact me and sign up!!
