Ask Bush to Let the Inspections Work

Mark Friesen

Through my travels I have experianced first hand the distane

much of the world has for americans and wish to do my part to

show the world that some of us are actually intelligent and not

corupted by greed. If some people find these topics to be

innapropriate for a bicycle racing forum, then I should remind them

that we are very lucky to even have a life style that allows us to

participate in leisure activities such as bicycle racing and that

somthings(like war)are more important than deciding weather or

not the 35+ masters should have to hold hands and require action.

Maybe so. But it seems to me that if you insist on using this forum for such

things, at least it could be done without a patronizing lecture about our

freedoms (which Iraqis do not share, by the way) and insulting those who

disagree as stupid and greedy. Some of us aren't stupid, aren't greedy and also

would like to see a peaceful world. But not one that's peaceful in the mustard-

gas sort of way that Halabja is peaceful.

And if we're going to let the disdain of some Euros determine our actions, then

I guess last summer Lance should've just hopped off his bike on the Ventoux,

flipped the yellow jersey to Virenque and gone home.

I usually do not get involved with this type of banter but I feel I need to

this time. A peacful world is more important that any political gain or

agenda (and maybe even bike racing). I feel that by my signing this petition

I am trying to do my part to make our government responsible for it's

actions and also to make the world a better place to live. Through my

travels I have experianced first hand the distane much of the world has for

americans and wish to do my part to show the world that some of us are

actually intelligent and not corupted by greed. If some people find these

topics to be innapropriate for a bicycle racing forum, then I should remind

them that we are very lucky to even have a life style that allows us to

participate in leisure activities such as bicycle racing and that

somthings(like war)are more important than deciding weather or not the 35+

masters should have to hold hands and require action . We need to look

beyond our own personal politics and beliefs and see the world as the place

we live. We shuold treat it that way.

Thanks.

Jerry:

Just a few observations:

#1 This is not the correct forum to be requesting input for an obviously

polarizing and politically charged petition.

#2 I find your choice of utilizing this forum for such purposes to speak

volumes about your integrity. Did you also condone the DNC's use of Paul

Wellstone's funeral as a political rally?

#3 Have you investigated the history of individuals who were the catalyst of

virtually all the world's wars and widespread atrocities against humanity?

Don't they all share common traits with Saddam Hussein?

Please see http://www.foxnews.com/projects/pdf/120202_saddamdossier.pdf for

a summary of Saddam's violations against humanity. After reading this,

wouldn't you agree he is a threat to everyone in the world?

Are you aware Hussein killed over 5000 people in one day using chemical

weapons, including women and children?

If your conscious will allow you to protect this animal and his

dictatorship, so be it, just leave it out of this forum.

Thank you!

Inspections in Iraq have started. Most of us

breathed a sigh of

relief. Unfortunately, it's become clear that the

ultra-hawks in

the Bush administration -- Cheney, Wolfowitz, Perle

-- will not

take yes for an answer. While the rest of the world

thinks Iraq

has backed down, these men are pursuing a massive

public relations

blitz for war.

With the possibility of a peaceful resolution to

this crisis at hand,

we cannot allow a few men to push the world to war.

Send a message

to President Bush and Congress to let the

inspections work at:

    http://www.moveon.org/winwithoutwar/

MoveOn.org will compile our messages and present

them to the

administration, including Secretary of State Powell,

to U.N.

Secretary General Kofi Annan, and to members of

Congress.

The good news is that the ultra-hawks face some

serious opposition.

Secretary of State Colin Powell and other members of

the Bush

Administration are willing to give diplomacy a

chance, and the State

Department's interpretation of the U.N. resolution

is a lot more

reasonable than the White House's interpretation.

President Bush has agreed that war should be the

very last resort.

Let's hold him and his Administration to those

words:
