blind date, round 5... season 53?

Blind Date is just a small part of what Alpenrose does for cycling. There is the velodrome, of course. What is probably under appreciated is that they allow us to use their property as the physical plant for OBRA operations to store the trucks, trailers and shipping containers that hold all the equipment we use at races. Then there is softball, quarter midget racing, Dairyland, etc. For all this they only receive our thanks. Let's make sure they are well heard.

Thank YOU, Tony and Joe, for what is my favorite series of the whole year. I look forward to Blind Date all year and will miss it starting Thursday morning. You guys bust your butts to provide us with a unique and challenging course every week and make it look easy. Alpenrose and the Cadonau family surely deserve major props for being so supportive and hosting us into the dark hours in the middle of the week. I love seeing everyone out there, the closer-knit group of racers, the more relaxed atmosphere, the lights, the dark…it's more fun than you should be allowed to have on a Wednesday night!

after five sweet years our
little race has enough history to warrant some nostalgia; the chaotic
first season, all the times the generators quit, the big dirt project
(and endless hours on the dairy tractor to make it rideable), crazy
storms, swarms of bees, doing six races on
accident... the list goes on. while we have our own timeline, i like to
think that the blind date is a continuation of something that started
way further back, and that the spirit of the tour d' alpenrose
is carried on each week that we go out and tear around in the dirt on
bikes and laugh about it. the degree of support that Alpenrose dairy
and the Cadonau family has given local cycling (and national, for that
matter) is truly immeasurable, and all they ask in return is
that we enjoy ourselves and respect the place. don't be shy- drop a line

the final date of the season is upon
us this week. the talented and charming 21st ave

thanks for the good time-
