*Meeting at the Kenton Firehouse will look at road and neighborhood
improvement plans*****

The Oregon Department of Transportation is hosting an open house Tuesday,
Oct. 22 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Kenton Historic Firehouse, 8105 N. Brandon
Ave., in Portland, to discuss planned improvements for North Denver Avenue.*

Staff from ODOT and the design team will be on hand to discuss and answer
questions about the OR 99W: N. Victory Boulevard to N. Argyle Street
improvement project.****

The proposed design will increase safety and provide better transportation
connections within the nearly mile-long project area.****

****

The project improvements include: ****

- Realigning North Schmeer Road and installing traffic signals at the
intersection.****

- Resurfacing the North Denver Avenue viaduct and Columbia Slough Bridge
decks.****

**· **A shared-use path on the west side of North
Denver Avenue from Victory Boulevard to Schmeer Road. ****

**· **Converting the access road from Denver Avenue to
Schmeer Road into a shared-use path.****

**· **Providing a gateway sign feature for downtown
Kenton. ****

Lane closures and detours are anticipated during construction, which is
scheduled to begin in the summer of 2014 and end in the fall of 2015.
Information about the project’s design and anticipated traffic impacts will
be shared at the open house.****
