As a person who has some experience with closed head injuries, I agree with
Ron's advice about taking it easy for a bit. Racing is fun but not at the
expense of your continued health.

Scott,
I saw you were not on the result and after all that yelling for me when I was on the course.
Sounds like a concussion to me. Take some time and heal. Your body is not all about healing itself as fast as when you were 15 or 20 years old. Glad to see you can type and think!!!!
You are a class act man Scott Barker. You might fly under the radar for many on the OBRA list, but those who know you....know a fun loving competitor and the fact you are filled with kindness.
see you out there...............If you miss a few races I can loan you my Jake Rosenfeld Cross Crusade Cowbell. You can either ring that one (instead of your own) or hang it round your neck and roam the venue blasting out an occasional “Mooooooooooo”.

Hey,

Just wanted to thank everyone who helped me out after I crashed during the first lap of the final race on Saturday. Problem is, I don't know who to thank because I don't remember the crash, and I'm pretty fuzzy on how I made it back to the OBRA tent (according to Strava, I stayed on course and rode). By the time I made it back to the start/finish, I kinda remember some OBRA officials taking good care of me and lining up a ride with my wife to see a doctor. Thanks mystery helpers -- you guys are awesome!

If anyone wants to jog my memory about the crash or helping me out, please reply offline. Thanks Johnathon P -- I know you must have helped me because you finished 8th ;-) To the Ruckus DNF dude.... was I involved? Sorry man if I ended your day.

So even though I got my bell-rung, I gotta say that this is just one of my favorite races on the calendar. This was my second year, and the trails were a blast to ride (I did lots of pre-riding). Like Ron said about the single-track with perfect flow and natural berms (and barriers), plus the river sections with ridable sand.... so sweet. I was with some family members, and they loved the venue, and being so close to Fir Point Farms. Thanks again Randy and crew!

Until next year,
Scott
