2009 Subaru Outback with 31K miles, 5-speed manual and many extras! (Colors: metal panels are blue, plastic panels are gray, black cloth interior.)

Looking for a reliable car that’s a little more capable on fire roads, while remaining composed and civilized on pavement—even fully loaded? Here ya go.

My miscalculation is your gain; I outfitted this car (see EXTRAs section below) to avoid eventually buying a truck… only to learn that I cannot tow the trailer I now want to use—so now I’m forced to buy a truck. (I’ve never towed with this car, only used a hitch-mounted bike rack.)

It’s a Sube, so you know how it goes in the snow.

It’s a 2009—before the super-sizing that turned a bomb-proof wagon into a freakin’ SUV.

It’s a 4-cylinder, so you can get 30mpg on the highway, with low maintenance costs. (I’ve had zero maintenance costs but oil changes every 3,000 and wiper blades (which are new as of 2 weeks ago.)

It’s a 5 speed, which makes ALL the difference in a 4-cylinder. Before buying this car, I rented a 4-speed automatic Forester (same engine) and drove it to the Tetons pretty loaded (the car, not me!) It felt anemic and really suffered on the hills, constantly seeking the right gear. I decided I would not buy the 4-cylinder car (which I wanted for the better mileage) unless I could find a 5-speed manual.

NEW tires: Hankook iPike tires installed in the spring—only 4K miles on these. Awesome on the road, in the mud, snow, and on gravel.

EXTRAS:

· Wheels: I have another set of 17” wheels with snow studs (not that you’d actually need them with the Hankooks, but I had these before the Hankooks) Still a couple of seasons of life on the tires, which are incredible in the snow.

· Primitive Racing skidplates, front and rear. Not a scratch—I’ve only been off pavement in the car ONCE since the install this summer.

· King Springs (also installed by Primitive this summer, along with 3/4" lift spacers) all around—a HUGE improvement over stock springs. Great performance and control even when the car is fully loaded. No more bottoming out as you drive rutted roads to your camping / biking / skiing spot, or wallowing at freeway speeds under load.

· 2” hitch reciever, custom welded by Metal-Fab in Salem. Rock solid.

Extrapolating from KBB and Edmund’s to account for the extras, I think $17,000 is about right. Will happily consider other offers if you’ve got legit data to back it up.

Clean title in hand.

Can take photos on request, will be taking some anyway once the car is detailed this week. It’s really clean. (Well, it is clean now and WILL be really clean in a few days.)

Car is in Bend.

Posting to CL once I get the pics after the detail.

Cheers,
Brady
