Counterfeit Bike Parts and Hazardous substances

I knew that....or at least somewhat expect it and do wonder if Fake Giant
or imposter brands from sub standard internet companies exist, that may
also be made in China that are not up to specs to undercut legitimate
"China Manufacturing Standards" that may not pose any or limited risk
verses standards in the USA and other countries. I will effort to get a
engineer from one of theses companies on board.

When I get a few to participate I will let OBRA know the Time of the show

I could "Fake" my way through the interview with a few " ummmmmm" and "
welllllll" but want people up the food chain to be a part of the discussion

Mike,

You can go out and do a google search on 'carbon bicycle frames' or 'carbon components' and a list of sellers appear. Most frame makers contract out to Asia. Imagine my surprise to see my new Ridley has a 'Made in China' label on it.

Giant, TREK, Specialized. All come from China. Nearly all bikes look identical as they come from china/taiwan.

Hey Shawn

That would work and if you have insight on the country of origin of these
fake bikes, and the effect that this has on potential safety and on a equal
scale, economic loss to legitimate brands and manufacturing.I will follow
up with you with the producer of the show.
In most cases the show has 2-3 on a conference call to chime in and keep
the hr long program going smoothly.

Also if someone is riding in one of my events with this equipment then we
all have a safety issue that goes a bit deeper than most event planners
would like to have to think about.

Thanks!

Hey Guys

I have an opportunity and was contacted to speak to the above subject line
but do not have nearly the capacity to engage via the radio.

Here is the link

Contact me and if you know of a company who has experienced dealing with
counterfeit bike parts/hardware/ect, and or lax standards that pose a
threat to the public that purchases Bicycles. We do have regulations in
place in the USA and some other countries but are lacking in other areas of
the globe relating the Bikes that we ride/race, and love.
Maybe you or a industry leader can speak on this subject.

Thanks!
