Oh yea, one other thing. When you get here from the wet side don't be
surprised if the locks on your car or bike rack freeze. A little spray
lube will prevent that - but if it's too late heat your key with a
cigarette lighter before you use it.

I'll to Rick's list....

- if you haven't do so already, try to get a solid amount of a light chain lube into your freehub body to lighten the viscosity. At low enough temps, the grease can cause the pawls to stick, and you have the reverse of a fixed gear.

It's as simple as taking the cassette off, and just dripping some TriFlow, etc into the freehub/hub junction while spinning the freehub backwards. No need to remove the freehub, don't over think it.

It may or may not be necessary....but speaking from experience riding in Rochester, NY during the winter, it's an extremely concerning feeling when your freehub just stops engaging.

May not be totally necessary for cross racing - but it takes less than 5 minutes total.
