Great idea!
I had a mountain bike stolen off my roof rack. They cut off a U-lock then dismantled the frame and fork, taking the bike and leaving the locked fork (and front wheel in trunk).
I had a road bike stolen off my roof rack. They managed to get everything this time (except front wheel in trunk). There was no damage to the rack, lock, or car, and no remnants of carbon, paint, etc. The fork lock was still locked.
