Help us grow the Washington High School Cycling League Movement! We have an Informational Meeting at Camas Bike and Sport Thursday Jan 9th from 530pm-630pm on joining the 4th Season of The Washington Student Mountain Bike League for students 7th thru 12 grades. Join us in spreading the word and helping establish teams in our area of the state for the this winter/spring season. If you have or know students that would like to ride and/or race mountain bikes in a High School and Middle School program, or if you know anyone that would like to be involved as a leader or volunteer, please come to the meeting for an Informative Power Point and Q & A Session afterwards.
The program provides safe mountain biking and leadership opportunities in a team environment with the focus of becoming life-long cyclists. Through this program, students will learn mountain bike skills, explore trails, and gain fitness. Additionally, they will have the opportunity to learn about teamwork, leadership, stewardship, and working towards competitive and non-competitive goals. It is a "no-cut" program and the only qualifications is the desire to ride and get dirty with your friends!
Camas Bike and Sport has managed a team, the Lacamas Freedom Riders, since the inception of the league in 2010. They seek to have other teams in the Clark County and Portland area formed so they have friendly cross town rivals to compete with against the 20+ teams in the Seattle/Olympia area. A new Vancouver team has indeed been formed and they are looking for students to join them!
If you can't make the meeting, but are interested you can contact Ed or Bill anytime at the shop or ,League Director Lisa Miller at lisa@evergreenmtb.org and for detailed info on the League go to www.washingtonleague.org
Thank You!
