I'd have to say a big ol' ditto on the officals and volunteers. You guys

were great. Everybody was enthusiastic and very helpful. And thanks Candi

for telling me to take a deep breath before the start of stage 1.

The Elkhorn Classic Stage Race is truly a classic!! This is the second

year that I've done this race, and it's one of the best races I've ever

done. A couple of things to note:

a.. The organization of this race is outstanding. Everything starts on

time, the results are posted quickly, the officials are there to answer

any questions you may have, and they always have a smile on their faces! b..

The volunteers that work in the feed zones are fantastic. There's

always someone with a water bottle, a Clif Bar, or a coke to hand to

every rider.

c.. The courses are epic. Beautiful roads, very few cars, long, gradual

climbs, non-technical descents, wide, flat roads, rivers,

trees....Everything you've ever dreamed of in a bike race.

d.. There are support vehicles for every field. The women had at least

two cars, loaded with wheels in the event of a flat.

e.. The town of Baker City really loves this race. Everyone comes to

watch the downtown criterium. And there's LOTS of cash primes. The one thing

this race needs? More women racers!!! We had 34 women in

the field, but that was low compared to the other men's fields. This

race is for women of all categories!! Yes, it's a challenging stage

race, but it is well worth the trip! And it's great to race with women

from the northwest!! They really are a fun bunch.

I'm planning to recruit more women to this race next year. I hope you'll

all spread the word and join in the fun too.

And many thanks to Nathan Hobson, for putting on a great race.
