To those of you involved with the Elkhorn,
Claire, my children, and I are all tired but have been walking around with smiles on our faces for the past few days. Thank you so much for all of the messages of encouragement and support of the Elkhorn Classic Stage Race. I have forwarded a lot of your comments to the City of Baker, the business owners, the high school, and to many of the volunteers. They enjoy reading them as much as we do.
The OBRA official crew was a pleasure to work with and handled all of our stress with calm and poise. THANK YOU.
To all of you who volunteered, and many traveled as far as the participants to be there, thank you for without your help the Elkhorn would just be an idea instead of a race.
To the citizens of Baker City thank you for making us feel so welcome and for your patience as we raced our bikes on the beautiful roads in and around Baker County.
Finally, to the participants who traveled from near and far. You supported the local economy of a town that appreciates the help. You have allowed the volleyball team, by supporting the camping and spaghetti feed, to make their summer camps a reality, and they wanted me to express their gratitude. You put on a great show for the crowds at the Gold Rush Criterium. You raced safe and fast over some challenging courses and still managed a smile and a thank you to the volunteers and to us. You traveled a long way to participate and without you there is no race. We hope you will put us on your calendar for the third annual 2004 Elkhorn Classic Stage Race, June 18th, 19th, and 20th, 2004. All of the same fields will be offered, including women, as 2003.
