OBRA XC Championships

Hi Matt-

The process is that I send out a notice asking for bids. I then
select a panel of three individuals- an experienced official, board
member and racer (sometimes one of them is a promoter). They each
evaluate the applications and then a decision is made. The best way
to know the criteria is to take a look at the app. I can send you one
if you'd like.

Some year it ends up defaulting to a race as there are no other applicants.

I'm definitely looking for having Pickett's as a championship race in
the future too! (I told Gina to reapply when the time comes!)

It's both: Promoter applies, the board decides among the applicants.

Out of curiosity, what is the selection process for Championships,
specifically MTB? Is it up to a promoter to submit an application for
their race to be a championship race or does a board decide which venue
best represents the sport and selects it amongst themselves, is it
geography based? Or do you put Post It's up on the wall and throw a
dart...?

In my own opinion, I felt Alsea was a terrible choice for State Champs last
year... Partially because I hate that course, but also because I don't
feel it's the best representation of XC racing. I believe the current
Picketts Charge course would be a great venue, in the future...!

Just curious... I'll still show, race, and not win regardless of venue...
