Also on the subject of rare earth magnet safety also think about your
phone and bank cards.

"Rare-earth magnets have strong magnetic fields that can damage
electronic equipment and magnetic data storage media. You should keep
these magnets away from electronic equipment, computer discs, credit
cards, video tapes, and other magnetic media."

OBRA has no rules regarding how numbers are attached only that they are
attached in such a fashion as to be readable. Tape and glue has been used
but does not work particularly well with the OBRA Lycra numbers or with
Lycra clothing.

There is no rule against using these. I would expect that they would work
quite well. I should note that one can buy small disc rare earth magnets in
larger quantities for significantly less money. They will not have the fancy
interfacing shape. A similar sized smooth disk magnet can be purchased in a
50 lot for $10-$15 rather than the about $25 for five that racedots is
asking.

One good use for rare earth magnets is to replace the zip tied magnet on the
crank for cadence sensors. A small rare earth disk magnet will fit into the
pedal hole in the crank and adhere to the pedal spindle, that is assuming
that you do not have titanium spindles. Much spiffier and cleaner looking
than the zip ties

Kenji is absolutely right regarding ingestion of rare earth magnets. There
are some toys that have had rare earth magnet parts and ingestion of these
have led to significant injury and death. Keep them away from your kids.

If they are UCI legal safety pins then about 2 grams each.
The rest of the world does just fine with 1.5 gram safety pins.

We will now. I can just see numbers and magnets flying all over the place during the next sprint.

I for one would not trust them until I see them in action.
