The following was sent to me, and I'm passing it along FYI:

Portland Area Athletic Community:

I want to thank you for all your support thus far of the Memorial

Athletic

and Recreation Complex (MARC) proposal, let you know how you can

continue

to stay involved and what the next steps are in the process for Memorial

Coliseum.

Memorial Coliseum Public Meeting

Last week's public meeting on the reuse options for Memorial Coliseum

was

great exposure for the MARC and provided the City with valuable feedback

on

the reuse options. We talked to representatives from a wide variety of

sports - including swimming, indoor track and field, indoor soccer,

figure

skating, curling, and Special Olympics of Oregon - who were all in

agreement about the huge potential for the MARC and the facilities it

offers. The overwhelming sentiment at the meeting was to maintain the

Coliseum as a civic use, with the MARC being the favored alternative.

Submit Public Comment on the MARC

We strongly encourage you to submit public comment on the MARC proposal

if

you haven't already. Your input as athletes and coaches is key to

letting

the City know about the need for a facility like this, how it could

benefit

the Portland community and the potential for tournament play at the

MARC.

During this phase of the process, comments should be directed to:

Spread the Word

We want to bring as many athletes, coaches, clubs and teams into this

process as possible.

You can help us accomplish this goal by sharing the MARC proposal with

your

network of coaches and teams and encouraging them to submit public

comment,

or by forwarding us their contact information and we can talk to them

directly. I've also talked to several people about posting information

on

their team's website. If you're interested, we can easily coordinate

that

with you. Attached to this email is a summary of the MARC for your use.

The

MARC's website is: www.themarc.info

Next Steps

Though no timeline has been set, we are hopeful that the City Council

will

hold a public hearing in late summer/early fall on Memorial Coliseum.

This

will be a critical time to come out with your team and provide public

testimony in support of the MARC. We will let you know when those

hearings

are scheduled.

Questions

Please call me or email me with any questions about the MARC or the

process

for Memorial Coliseum.

Thanks again for all your support,
