Strava Data analyzed by ODOT

Article below by Jonathan Maus of Bikeportland.org wrote an article about ODOT being an early adopter of using Strava data to analyze cycling use patterns. I am an occasional user of Strava, and not necessarily a fan of some of the behavior it creates. But, when I read this article I thought, why not load EVERY ride to show the Government MY BMTs? Am I missing an opportunity to "vote" everytime I ride? And, what if the word really spread and more people in the cycling community made a conscious effort to upload their data regularly too? I would imagine 17,700 riders is a small fraction of the total riders in Oregon, and with GPS devices and smartphone apps, I would think a large percentage of those riders have the option to upload the data to Strava. Maybe the data set purchased was a fraction of the all the BMTs, either way, it would seem more volume equates to more "votes".
