Good Morning OBRA,
Today I come to all of you who have ridden or been involved with the Mt. Hood Cycling Classic these past 11 years with bad news. We had proposed putting the event on hiatus for a little while so we could find new sponsors and support and hopefully in the next 2-3 years bring the event back. However we received word two weeks ago from the Forest Service that due to budgetary concerns and a lack of funding they will be tearing out a significant portion of asphalt on the legendary 3 Summits Road Race course and turning it into gravel. We have been granted the opportunity to run the recreational Tour de Hood Ride this year on the 3 Summits Course one more time as the plan is to begin tear out next summer (we may eek out one more year we are waiting to see the exact time of the tear out project). Tour de Hood was a challenging recreational tour ride that ran in conjunction with the Mt. Hood Cycling Classic all those years. This year it will be a timed ride over the 3 Summits Road Race Co
urse with prizes for the top three men and women on the 3 Summits route. We will also offer a medium course (2 Summits) as well as a short course (1 Summit). We would love to see all of you out for one last party on the summits. Entry is a steal at $60 and includes a shirt, finishers medal, timing, aid stations, post race BBQ and beer from Full Sail.
