For those of you who didn't receive my earlier email, I like to pass on some updates ahead of Monday's Portland Short Track Race # 2 and the rest of the series:

1) Results and photos of short track race # 1.
- Results Adult & Jr Races: http://obra.org/events/22415/results

2) Still time to pre-register for next Monday's Short Track race # 2... OR to buy a Series Pass!
You still have until Saturday Noon to pre-register online via Athletepath for our next race. It will save you money and time on race day and it will make things easier for our registration volunteers! Also, per popular request from a number of new racers, we decided to offer a discounted Series Pass for the remainder of the Series ($120 for adults, $50 for juniors), which you will be able to purchase at registration on Monday.

3) Race plates & upgrades.
If you raced last Monday, make sure to bring back your plate and re-use the pipe-cleaners. Also, a reminder to always use 3 pipe cleaners or zip-ties to attach your plate (to prevent it from flipping over) and make sure to position your plate in front of any brake/shifter cables (for maximum readability). If you plan to upgrade or change category at any time during the series, you will have to request a new plate at registration. If you forget or lose your plate, you will have to purchase a new plate at registration (cost: $5).

4) Reminder: FREE weekly short track skills clinics from 4:30 to 5:30pm before the races.
Last Monday, we had more than 30 racers attending the free skills clinics taught by Elaine Bothe of Wenzel Coaching and Ted Byram of Bike N Hike. Next Monday, Elaine and Ted will be back again to teach novice and intermediate racers basic riding skills, including cornering, body position, balancing, and visual skills. Even if you are running late, you can still join in while they're out on the course. You don't have to register in advance for the clinics - or be registered for a race - but you must fill out a series waiver before participating in the clinic.

5) Our first batch of weekly raffle winners!
Even if you are not a contender for the podium, you still have a chance at winning in our popular weekly raffle... like:
- McKenna McKee, who is our first Queen of the Night and wins a $50 gift certificate, courtesy of our Women's sponsor Bike 'N Hike!
- Thomas Prather and Lorenzo Sobolewski, who each win our special "Pre-Reg" prize, a Lumberyard Friday Clinic Pass, good for a 2-hour skills clinic and all-day access to the Lumberyard Bike Park!
- Peter Hettinga, Marie Major, Erick Nelson, Scott Gerwig, and Mike Scheel, who are our weekly beer prime winners and will ride home next Monday with a variety 4-pack of HUB beer... four delicious flavors (IPA, Lager, Stout and White IPA) in convenient 16oz cans!
- Terry Knight, who scored a pair of Showers Pass Cross Point liner gloves and a complementary 22oz bottle of HUB organic ale.
- Colin Rowan, who wins a customized Short Track Blaq Tool Pocket and a complementary bottle of HUB organic ale.
- Colin Turner and Candida Hart, who each get to claim a box full of Rip van Wafels.

And don't forget that throughout the duration of the series, all short track racers get to enjoy a $2 "first beer" special on Monday nights at the Hopworks Bike Bar.

That's it. We have more summer weather in the forecast for Monday and we'll change up the course, so hope to see you out at PIR for another night of short track fun!

Cheers,
~Kris

PS: we have already over 100 people pre-registered for the Six Hours of Mt Hood, which takes place on June 29 (less than a month away!) at the Mt Hood Skibowl mountain resort. The snow at Skibowl is all gone and the course is in great shape, so it promises to be another great edition. First 250 riders who pre-register receive a free commemorative pint glass, so don't wait around and register today!
