Ham handups are not legal, but apparently it's okay to run on the course and give people a push through the mud.
I feel I need a better understanding of the 'rules'.

Posting for a friend.
An acquaintance of mine (Hugh Ford) made the trip from Toronto to race Clyde at Wa. Co. yesterday. Being someone who does not break the rules (no hand ups), he made sure to carry a couple of ham steaks along during the race for that extra kick on the last lap. Needless to say the sketchy course, and his less than stellar bike handling necessitated the jettisoning of said steaks. “They were still in their new packaging. I just want whoever found them to know they were ready for consumption. Cross Crusade was more than I imagined and I learned so much.” he asked me to post.
I mentioned to him someone dangled what looked like part of a ham steak in front of me for a hand up during my race (of course I would never break that rule). Makes me think at least one of his steaks found a home.
He loved his Cross Crusade experience and is taking what he learned back to the emerging Cross scene in Toronto. He is dedicated to doing the right thing for Canadian Cross and his family name. He came to the professionals to learn. He was a little bummed out knowing that when his plane landed back in Toronto he would need to be in quarantine for 21 days because he was in close contact with the Cross Crusade Clydes......but it was well worth it.
Thanks for making him feel welcome Clydes.
