For sale: Bike Friday Silk, size 58cm built with 11-speed Alfine hub, Versa 11-speed shifters on drop bars, Gates center-track belt drive, and Avid BB7 disc brakes.

This is a rather new, 2nd generation (2014) Silk frame with components from 2013. The original frame cracked and was replaced with this one which has a new, reinforced bottom bracket design (which is where the crack occurred on the previous frame). I was using the original Silk for commuting here in Portland and had good time with it, then after the replacement, I starting using my new I.F. cross bike for commuting and haven't gone back to the Bike Friday. Even though the Friday is still a nifty ride, I prefer the cross bike as it's a little speedier which helps me as I tend to run late.

The frame is bright green with hi-viz green decals and cables. The steerer tube and seat tube are matte black. It looks pretty sporty for a folding bike. And it rides pretty sporty. Yeah, it's heavy, but it tracks perfectly downhill at 35mph (that was about as fast as I got it up to). It corners very nicely and has a wonderfully tight turning radius thanks to the 20" wheels.

Fit note: I set this bike up to match my road bike fit, so to be comfy on this bike you gotta have reach for the 58cm top tube and a flexible back and/or long arms to enjoy the drop. With a postive rise stem you can get the bars above the saddle --unless your BB to saddle top is over 80cm. I have some extra stems at different lenths/angles.

Other notes:
- Alfine 11 requires periodic adjustment (as with any shifting system, but this is more nuanced --in my experience);
- The frame has front and rear fenders, as well as braze-ons for panniers;
- The name badge: I doubt you'll want my name on the bike --I'll remove it.

Asking Price: $1600 (originally $3000 without saddle, seatpost, stem)
*I will include the neat stealth 3T stem and Thomson Elite seatpost, but I'm keeping the saddle (I like it a lot).
