Staley Captures Gold at Jr. Worlds
MOSCOW (August 20, 2003) ? Larssyn Staley(Beaverton, Ore.) captured the gold
medal in the women?s 20km points race Wednesday at the 2003 UCI Junior World
Track Championships in Russia. Staley unfortunately crashed in the final
corner of the final lap of the race and was transported to the hospital
where X-rays of her back were taken.
Staley had already accumulated enough points earlier in the race to secure
her victory despite the crash. Her total of 35 points were enough to win the
rainbow jersey over Agne Bagdonaviciute (LTU) who finished with 33 points
for the silver medal.
