Mountain Bike Series Point Totals - Errors

Don,

I am only the messenger.

Randy Dreiling is in charge of the VW/Trek Series, and makes the rules

regarding how points are totalled for those events. All the mountain cross

country events insured by OBRA are counted for BAR points, so nobody's

losing out for BAR.

I agree that information regarding the VW/Trek Series should be posted

someplace. It may have been in the flier Randy mailed out at the beginning

of the season. I don't recall.

However, this is something specific to the VW/Trek Series. The few OBRA

mountain bike volunteers are already tapped, and to develop and maintain

Randy's VW/Trek site would be a bit much.

We'll see if we can't make things a bit more clear for next season.

Regards,

Jim Fischer

Hmmm...

The only info I could find about number of races for overall scoring

in the series says you must race in at least 7 events to be included

at the end of the season. Nothing about only 7 races counting.

Not including a rider in the final standings because they "only" did

6 or fewer events is silly. They raced and should be recognized for

it. Let the lack of points from the missed events be their "penalty"

in the final standing.

And if you ride all of the events you should be able to keep all of

your points earned.

At least make it very clear at the beginning of the season how the

point system works and make that info available on the OBRA web site

Many of the mountain bike racers have commented on the fact that their

point totals aren't what they should be.

For the VW/Trek Series, only your best 7 races count towards the Series

final points.

Contact Randy Dreiling with any comments or questions.
