OSF TO HOLD BENEFIT PERFORMANCE FOR MASTER ELECTRICIAN INJURED
IN BICYCLE ACCIDENT
Performance of A Midsummer Night?s Dream to Benefit
the Michael K. Maag Fund
Ashland, Ore.?The Oregon Shakespeare Festival invites members of the
community to a benefit performance of William Shakespeare?s A Midsummer
Night?s Dream at 7:30 p.m. Monday, September 8 on the Elizabethan Stage. All
proceeds will be donated to the Michael K. Maag Fund, a fund set up at US
Bank to help defray medical expenses. Tickets are $35 and available at the
Box Office at 15 South Pioneer Street, or by calling (541) 482-4331. Tickets
will go on sale Friday, August 22.
Mr. Maag is OSF?s Master Electrician, responsible for guiding his team
of lighting technicians in carrying out the lighting designs for 778
performances of the 11 OSF productions, involving 1,000 lighting
instruments. In addition, Mr. Maag is a member of the Cycle Sport Racing
Team, participating in races and rides throughout Oregon. He is a member of
the Southern Oregon Skywatchers Association, an avid chess player,

and he is a member in good standing of I.A.T.S.E. Local 15 of the Seattle
Stage Hand Union and of Sigma Chi fraternity. He is a graduate of the
University of Northern Colorado.
The cast and crew of A Midsummer Night?s Dream are donating their time
for this performance. Kenneth Albers, director of A Midsummer Night?s Dream,
felt this show would be the perfect benefit performance as Mr. Maag was
responsible for wiring 5,800 feet (that?s more than one mile!) of fairy
lights into this set.

Michael Maag was bicycling on Highway 66 at 12:40 p.m. Sunday
afternoon August 3 when he was struck by a car. He was transported by Mercy
Flights helicopter to Rogue Valley Medical Center and remained in critical
condition for over a week. His condition is now stable, and he is making
progress toward the time when he can engage in extensive physical
rehabilitation. The accident remains under investigation.
Because of the severity of Mr. Maag?s injuries and multiple surgeries,
he required a number of units of blood. The family asks that those wishing
to help replenish the blood bank donate blood in Mr. Maag?s name.
