One more try,

I'm looking to upgrade my cross bike, so my current one is for sale:

1998 Kona "Jake the Snake" complete bike. This is the original

Metallic Blue version that debuted in the Fall of 1997. A great cross

bike, and now a perfect "first" cross bike for someone out there.

Very nice condition, I rode it during 3 cross seasons but not at all

the rest of the year.

Size: 55cm,

(Seat Tube: 55cm to top of seat collar, Top Tube (effective): 54cm C-C)

Color: Metallic Medium Blue

Key Components:

105 8speed STI levers and derailleurs and rear hub, 12x28 XTR 8spd cassette.

(original cassette was 12x25 - that 28 comes in handy and is lighter)

Sugino 75 Crank 38x48

Mavic MA-2 rims w/ Ritchey 30mm Crossmax tires

Avid SD-20 V-brakes with TravelAgents

(I substituted the TravelAgents to get some cable adjustability)

Original Kona Fork plus Kona Project 2 fork from 1999 model year

(Project 2 fork has clearance for wider tires)

Pedals: Shimano 737's - two-sided SPD's I raced on.

(Jakes were sold without pedals back then)

Price: was $550, now $500
