5 year search continues, help!

Most likely then, the tools for this are only on the DNP factory assembly
floor. There probably isn't a "portable" tool even in existence.

As you have found out for the external, a quality expandable plier like
knipex or channelock can work great or nice pipewrench with good sharp hard
teeth.

For the internal, with your freewheel in hand, walk into Parkrose Hardware
and find a nut or bolt head, square or hex, that fits just so.
I know i have been successful with similar.

i have also been known to make tools. Get a round shape with a Bore or a
OD that is close to your external or internal issue. Trace the issue on
paper or etc. Get a file and/ or hacksaw and the time you otherwise spend
on the web, file the shape / trace. 20 or 30 minutes of proper effort and
you will probably have something. Poor mans milling machine can work
great and be as accurate as you care to be. If you use mild steel, its
easy to file and you can braze or weld it to a handle or to whatever
afterwards. if you use aluminum the shaping will be even easier but you
may also need to file or saw some flats for it to hold in a vise. or use
that Pipe wrench.

Searched hi and low. Google and countless mechs. Now the OBRA list.
I am looking for a very specific tool/tools to remove freewheel lockrings (not cassettes). Yes, just the lockring, NOT the freewheel removal tools, the actual lockring that holds the freewheel sprockets in place. Even more specifically SunRace, Shimano and DNP freewheel lockrings. DNP and SunRace are clearly a special tool because of the internal toothed lockring. I can manage to get some off without issue, but having the right specific tool would sure be nice. So.... anyone know of or where I can find lockring removal tools for freewheels.
Please contact me off list at rubber2theroad@yahoo.com
