Hi OBRA racers,
Registration is now open for the inaugural Reliant Recovery Water Grand Prix in Puyallup, WA. I would like to thank our great sponsors that have stepped up to make this race happen. Thanks to Reliant Recovery Water, South Sound Running, Toyota of Puyallup, Columbia Bank and Guardian Roofing we will be offering an $8000.00 cash purse and $1500.00 in cash primes. The Grand Prix will feature something for everyone. There is a separate race for cat 3 women, a mens 50+ race and a 2 mile running race. All races meet the minimum requirement for upgrade points! We have merchandise gift certificates from Old Town Bicycle, Bumpys Tavern, Road ID and the Twisted Kilt Irish Pub. The Twisted Kilt will offer 10% off your entire bill when you show your race number. The Twisted Kilt and Bumpys are in the heart of downtown Puyallup not far from the criterium course.
To pre-register for the criterium go to https://www.usacycling.org/register/2015-1630 You can find the race flyer there or at www.narrowsvelo.org We are also offering 50% discount for those that want to do multiple races. Discount will be applied at checkout.
The 2 mile run is being handled by South Sound Running. Registration for the run is online at http://www.active.com/puyallup-wa/running/distance-running-races/grand-prix-2-mile-run-2015?int= or at the Puyallup South Sound Running store, located on Meridian in downtown Puyallup. (253.268.0016) The run is not insured or endorsed by USAC. There are 2 pages to the race flyer. Page one covers the criterium and page 2 gives details on the run. Obviously, directions to the course are the same. Like I said, something for everyone. Please pass this along to your running friends and family members.
Every Saturday the Farmers Market is in full swing so feel free to stop by and check it out. There are fresh local fruits, vegetables, flowers and many other items. Its located at Meridian St and Pioneer Ave. (about 4 blocks east of the race). Just north of this intersection on Meridian you will find many restaurants and bars where you can kick back and relax (The Forum, NW Brewing, Twisted Kilt, Mazatlan, Charlies and Bumpys). Bumpys Tavern is putting on their annual classic car show so if you like nice old cars you should stop by and take a look. Puyallup is well known for its antique shops, so if you or your spouse are into antiques you cant go wrong. They are downtown as well and you will find them on your way to the restaurants.
This should be a great day of racing. Hope to see you at the races.
