I had a 2001 IBIS Ripley removed from the top of my car in Portland in

the early evening of 10/13. Ironically, I was inside at a yoga class

and therefore did not suffer a meltdown when I returned to my car to

see the front fork still in the skewer lock but laying on the

windshield and the handlebars on top of the roof still connected by a

brake cable. The burn comes when I go to the garage to get the bike

out for a ride and I remember...........The short lesson here is that

if you have a threadless steerer tube, it takes one or two allen

wrench sizes and probably less than 5 minutes to remove the ass half

of the bike cleanly from a typical fork mount carrier unless there is

a cable through the frame.

I expect most components to be stripped off but XTR deraiileur, Rolf

Propel wheel and hub, Specialized Body Geo. Mtn Saddle which

incidently is a great saddle, Avid Ti brakes, SpeedPlay Frogs,

Bontrager Race Lite Crank..............
