Representatives of the CCC will be at Alpenrose with a Bike Gallery van to
pick up the donated items. They have cleared this with River City since CCC
does not want to ruffle one of the sponsors' feathers. Is it possible that
you could save a space near the pillbox parking area to accommodate the Bike
Gallery truck? CCC plans to have representatives at the race on Sunday
since it is such a target rich environment for their holiday bike drive.
They will have donation forms, flyers and signage.
Dear OBRA members and Cyclocross Crusaders,
You can make someone very happy this holiday season by contributing unused
bicycles to the Community Cycling Center's Holiday Bike Drive. The CCC's
goal for 2003 is to recycle 1,000 bikes to low-income children.
To help this effort along, used bicycles will be collected next weekend,
October 26, Cross Crusade Race #4, at Alpenrose. CCC will provide a truck
to transport the bicycles.
Here's what you can do:
Donate used bicycles -- in any condition. Children's bikes are especially
needed for this drive, but adult bikes can be used for CCC's
Create-A-Commuter program. Bicycle parts, accessories, and gear are needed,
as well. No stationary bikes, please.
Tax deductibe donation forms will be available on October 26.
Other places to drop off bikes for this holiday drive include: all Bike
Gallery locations, River City Bikes, and the Community Cycling Center.
Check CCC's web site for more information about the drive, CCC's location,
and hours of operation at www.communitycyclingcenter.
Note: The bike drive has been okayed by the Murrays @ OBRA and by Brad Ross
with the Cross Crusade.
Any questions, please contact Sally Kneuven 503-226-4850
