Technical Services Engineer

Location: Beaverton, OR

Responsibilities for this position include:

     * Manage the customer technical issues on a daily basis, providing

       them with assistance in troubleshooting, training, telephone and

       on-site issue resolution

     * Responsible for the full life cycle of customer support issues

     * Perform duties professionally and efficiently when on a customer

       headend site and laboratory environment

     * Interface with the Technical Services Manager on a on-going

       basis for planning and execution of system deployments, system

       upgrades, system expansion and implementation of new digital

       services

     * Escalate technical issues to the appropriate nCUBE engineering

       teams

     * Manage change across documented installed system configurations

     * Interface with the nCUBE account and product management for

       on-going customer requirements

Experience and education:

     * B.S. degree or equivalent experience in electronic systems

       troubleshooting

     * Three or more years related experience

Required knowledge/skills:

     * Advanced level knowledge of Unix, TCP/IP networking and server

       hardware architecture

?         Ability to quickly understand and assimilate new technology

     * Excellent verbal/written communication skills

     * Strong customer focus in all aspects of job performance

     * Ability to perform successful installations alone or working

       with a team

     * Troubleshooting and problem solving skills

?         Previous experience in technical support or customer service

     * Demonstrated experience in customer support, with positive

       attitude, approach and focus

     * Ability to travel up to 25% of the time

     * Team player with 'get-it-done' attitude; self-starter, willing

       to work hard and have fun at work

     * Ability to work flexible hours

Desired knowledge/skills:

     * Experience with mpeg-2 video standard

     * Working knowledge of Oracle/SQL database

     * Experience with HFC architecture

     * Experience in Cable, Telco or other VOD environments

     * Knowledge of ATM Network specifically implementing Bridged 1483

     * Experience with Interactive Televisions Systems for the Hotel

       Environment
