A shout out to the BLIND DATE series. Alpenrose is a special place and this series is just plain fun. It is tough for sure and being old the “Blind” spots do create challenges (for me) at times. But dating at my age is about as good as it gets and some racing and emotional drama are well worth sneaking out of the care home on Wednesday nights. All this naughtiness and still a rated “G” Alpenrose event. Thanks Tony and Joe (and your “get it done crew”, sponsors and of course OBRA) for putting on this series which gets people off the couch mid. week.
Along with the Rapha Cup up at PIR, Portland Metro racers have two great series to choose from. Whichever is more convenient for a mid-week / night race.
Now we just need the City, County or Metro to step up and provide a PERMANENT Cyclocross (off road) race venue for events like this all year. Portland without such a venue is like Toronto with a Hockey Arena!!! We have the most Cyclocross racers in the nation and struggle to maintain venues. Keep the off road cycling pressure on these government agencies you young OBRA members. It will pay dividends for you and your kids.
